With over 25 years of experience in publishing and media, Maria Pieri has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of APL Media. As Editorial Director for more than 17 years, she led a team of over 70 professionals, delivering award-winning content across both print and digital platforms. Since 2010, Maria has overseen the editorial strategy for National Geographic Traveller (UK) and its associated products, including the Food magazine and the Food Festival while also developing the Living360 brand.

In the past decade, Maria has expanded her leadership remit as Chief Operating Officer, taking charge of HR, recruitment, IT, technology, and operations. Her industry influence includes serving as a committee member of the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) and holding the position of BSME Chair in 2020.

Passionate about developing emerging talent, Maria co-founded the Travel Media Awards’ *Step Up* youth internship scheme and launched APL Media’s entry-level internship programme — further reinforcing her commitment to nurturing the next generation of media professionals.
